Shared Reading: Would You Rather Be Middle Class Now or Rich in 1900?

I recently found this great blog post from Time Magazine's blog.

In two different scenarios you would make the same salary of $70,000 a year. So the real question is when would you prefer to live?

In the early 1900s:
You get to be super rich; your income is roughly equal to $700,000 today. You get a mansion, servants, the whole deal.

Means you aren’t rich, but you’re not poor — and you don’t have to worry about being crippled by polio, or killed when a cut on your foot gets infected. You also get cable TV and air conditioning.

I think it's an interesting question. It also goes to show how much inflation has changed life. Please post a comment about when you would prefer to live.
